DESCRIPTION
"Crow a Potion" is a cute "manage your shop" mobile game developed by a team of 6, during an exchange year in Finland, KAMK, studying game business.
Crow a Potion is available in Itch.io, for the Android.
CONTRIBUTION
My main tasks were taking care of the game economy design and the lead in production, making sure the game was published in due time.
As such, I took on additional tasks to ease the team:
- Designing and creating the characters, the promo art and the cutscenes;
- Programming Unity animations;
- Coding utility scripts.
As the game design economist, I used excel to help me organize and figure out which values were the most balanced and fun for the player, from the amount of gems and gold the player gets to how much they should spend to upgrade their shop.
During this time, I studied game design economy books to better understand the theory behind balancing games.
I gained more insight about workflows, how to facilitate meetings, and especially, how to adapt to the team's needs.
Every week, from wednesday to friday, our team worked 8 hours to develop "Crow a Potion". We now understand better what working in a real company would feel like timewise.
There were ups and downs, but in the end the the team was able to come through and publish the game we wanted to develop.
No one crunched at any given time and everyone was compelled to communicate and share their thoughts.
Becoming not just acquaintances, but also friends, was important for the comfortability of the team.
